Student Services - The T G Room AwardProfessor T G Room was appointed to the Chair of Mathematics at the University of Sydney in 1935, succeeding Professor H S Carslaw. He held this position for over 30 years and had great influence mathematics education in NSW. He was president of MANSW in 1963 - 64. In 1968, after his retirement, MANSW established the T G Room Award in his honour. The award was to be made annually to the student who gains first place in the Higher School Certificate examination. The first recipient was Christopher Cosgrove who gained first place in the inaugural HSC mathematics examination, in 1967. T G Room Award: MedallistsThe T G Room Award goes to the student who gains first place in the highest level Mathematics course in the NSW Higher School Certificate in the year preceding the year of the award. The award consists of an engraved medallion and a cash award, currently $500.
