About the Mathematical Association of New South Wales
What Can MANSW do for you ?

The Association is dedicated to improving the quality of mathematics education and learning in the following areas.
Assist in professional development
- Regular journals free with membership - newsletters for all and Square One for Primary and Reflections for Secondary
- Annual Conference - hailed by many as outstanding for the variety of practical teaching ideas presented for all teachers from K-12
- Inservice courses. See the program for Primary and Secondary teachers.
Provide quality teaching resources
- PAMphlets, a great resource for obtaining teaching ideas, aimed mainly at Primary students
- Programming support for the new Years 9-10 syllabus
- Square 1 and Reflections
- Publishers of a wide range of Primary, Primary/Secondary and Secondary resources for teachers.
Provide quality resources for your students
- Publishers of Past HSC exam papers with solutions (order form)
- Publishers of HSC revision booklets and Practice papers by Mark Arnold (order form)
Give opportunities for the exchange of ideas and latest theories
Supply activities to enrich student learning
- Investigating Mathematics - a great aid in motivating students and teachers to explore the benefits of investigative work
- Mathematics at Luna Park (for students from Years 5-10) - students learn Mathematics in a real world context as they ride with worksheets provided by MANSW
- Mathsearch Competition for talented Year 11 Students, and the basis for selection to the National Mathematics Summer School. The best students are awarded the J.L. Williams medal.
- Talented Students' Day for Mathematics Extension 2 students
- HSC Lecture Series for Year 12 students.
Enable your voice as a Mathematics educator to be heard in political circles
The Executive , on your behalf, acts as a lobby group for issues of concern to Mathematics educators. Recent involvement has been in relation to
- the chance and data strand of the "Primary syllabus" and
- the new HSC structure as it affects Mathematics.
